  • May 16 to August 11, 2023 | Intra - District Transfers (Internal Requests | Elementary to Elementary, MS to MS)
    • Application window to attend a different neighborhood school within the Centennial School District.

Students who live within the boundaries of other school districts may request a transfer into the Centennial School District and students who live in the Centennial School District may ask for permission to attend schools in other districts.

There are state laws that govern the interdistrict transfer process. Interdistrict transfer laws are complex and have changed considerably over the past several years. Permission for standard transfers in or out of a school district is decided based on priorities by the Oregon Legislature, district school boards, space availability and random lottery numbers. There is usually a set time frame for applying for interdistrict transfers, and late applications can be denied. Generally, transfer decisions are made in the spring and summer for the following school year.

Transportation on all transfers will be solely the responsibility of the students’ parents/ guardians. Students may always return to their home schools at any time. However, this may void your current transfer.

  • Transferring schools within the Centennial School Districts to neighborhood schools.

Students who currently live within the Centennial School District boundaries may request to attend another neighborhood school within our district. Specific schools and grades available will be based on individual schools and space. If you apply during the summer, schools are closed and decisions will be made late August after summer registrations.

Please allow adequate time to process these requests at the end of the application timeline.  You will be notified of the district's decision after the application date closes.  The following conditions will be considered:

    • Adequate space and staff availability must be available at the appropriate grade level.
    •  The parent must provide transportation to and from school.
    •  Appropriateness of the educational need.
    •  All approved transfers are contingent upon adherence to school behavioral, attendance, and punctuality guidelines.

The duration of this transfer is through the highest-grade level at that school. Transportation on all transfers will be solely the responsibility of the students’ parents/ guardians.

  • This is the time to request to come into the Centennial School District.

A limited number of students will be accepted into the Centennial School district for the 2023-24 school year. Specific schools and grades available are based on the individual schools.

Families must contact their resident neighborhood school district to request an interdistrict transfer release out of that district. That release will work as the application request into the Centennial School District and there is no additional paperwork needed.

Transfers into the district will be accepted on a first come first serve basis and families will be notified after processing the request.

Due to capacity and projected numbers for the 2023-24 school year. Butler Creek Elementary, Parklane Elementary, Centennial Middle School and Centennial Transition Center are currently closed to incoming transfers.

In addition, OPEN School East is a contracted service and we will not be accepting direct transfers to that school.

If you have an incoming kindergartener of a closed school and you wish to join siblings with current transfers to a closed school, please proceed with the transfer process. The district will take this into consideration.

  • A limited number of transfer students are released out of the district each year. These students are granted an inter-district transfer out of the district based on the Oregon legislature and the Centennial District Boards decision. If more students apply than allotted spaces are available, a lottery will be held.

Students who were enrolled in their requested district’s as 11th graders in the 2022-23 school year or students who have siblings already enrolled and have received a transfer to the requested school will not need to participate in the lottery and will be released from the Centennial School District through the application process.

If you do not meet the criteria above, the Centennial School District will release up to 30 resident students to attend schools in other districts. Both sides must agree to the transfer and notification of the district’s decision will be sent to you by email. The Centennial School District will forward your paperwork to your requested district.

Releases out of a district are good through grade 12 while continuously attending the requested school district.  The non-resident district will determine the length of transfers in that district.

Applications will be available May 16, 2023. If we receive more than 30 out-of-district transfer requests, a lottery will be held after June 27, 2023.

  • Did you move after the last day of school? Summer move transfers are granted for one school year (2023-24) for students who move after the last day of the 2022-23 school year, during the summer or during the school year and have missed the inter-district transfer process.

If you move INTO the Centennial School District boundaries during the summer (therefore missing the application process for inter-district transfers out of the Centennial School District) and wish to remain at your last attended school, please contact that schools district office transfer department for options.

If you move OUT of the Centennial School District boundaries during the summer into another school district, you may remain with Centennial School District for the 2023-24 school year. Please notify your school secretary of your new address. This transfer is

  • If you are interested in an online school outside of the Centennial School District, please follow the registration process with that school. The Centennial School District follows the Oregon Department of Education and may deny your request if we have reached our 3% cap.
