Summer Learning Programs

 

 

Centennial School District is once again offering summer learning programs for students across the District thanks in part to grant approval from the Oregon Department of Education.

The program will be for K-12 grade students and will be similar to the last few years with some additional components based on the grant requirements. All participating students will experience well-rounded, hands-on, integrated learning by Centennial staff and community partners.

This year, the program will run Monday through Friday from July 8 - 26, 2024 for elementary, middle, and high school students. Qualifying high school students will be provided opportunities for credit recovery.

Applications are due no later than May 10, 2024. 

 

 

  • Who can attend?

    Students currently in Grades Kinder - 4th.

     

    What are the dates and times?

    Monday to Friday, July 8 - July 26, 2024, 9:15 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.

     

    What should you know?

    • Applications due by May 10, 2024.
    • Students will experience academic enrichment in literacy and participate in hands-on, integrated STEM learning opportunities and enrichment learning will be offered by community partners.
    • Breakfast & Lunch will be provided.
    • Transportation will be provided for students who qualify. 
    • Summer School Locations:
      • Butler Creek Elementary (2789 SW Butler Rd., Gresham, OR 97080) (Butler Creek and Pleasant Valley students)
      • Meadows Elementary (18009 SE Brooklyn St, Portland, OR 97080) (Meadows and Powell Butte students)
      • Parklane Elementary (15811 SE Main Street, Portland, OR 97080) (Parklane and Patrick Lynch students)

     

    If you are interested in having your student(s) participate in summer programming, please complete the application and return it to your school’s office no later than May 10. Please complete one form for each student. We will contact you if your student(s) are selected for summer programming and provide you with transportation information.

    Centennial School District in collaboration with SUN, Portland Parks & Recreation, and Metropolitan Family Services is hosting a Summer Program for current 5 - 7 graders.

    What are the dates and times?

    • Monday to Friday, July 8 - July 26, 2024
    • 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

     

    What's the schedule like?

    • 7:45 a.m. Breakfast Opens
    • 8:00 a.m. Instruction or SUN Enrichment
    • 10:45 a.m. Lunch
    • 11:15 a.m. Instruction or SUN Enrichment
    • 2:00 p.m. Release

     

    What school is hosting?

    Centennial Middle School, 17650 SE Brooklyn St, Portland, OR 97236

     

    Other details:

    • Applications due by May 10, 2024.
    • Half of the day is focused on academics (Literacy instruction and STEM hands-on learning activities), and the other half is enrichment learning opportunities.
    • Breakfast and Lunch are provided free of cost.
